2017 2 Round NFL Mock Draft

Two round mock draft not on what I think is going to happen, but in fact on what I would do if I owned each of these picks. I’ll also offer commentary on why I would do that and the potential impact of each of these selections. 1. Cleveland Browns - DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M The Browns just take the best player available and he’s the best prospect by a long way. The Browns need a pass rusher badly and a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball. There isn’t a quarterback even in the conversation as the best player, and the team is so far away from being competitive that you build around a game wrecker on defense. 2. San Francisco 49ers - FS Malik Hooker, Ohio State I know everyone has San Francisco taking Soloman Thomas here but I think that pick makes little sense for two reasons. Number one is why would you take a very similar player to Buckner and Armstead when you used first round picks on them the past two seasons and both are starting to figure it out. Secondly

Ten Thoughts on 2017 NFL Draft

Ten thoughts on the 2017 NFL Draft Myles Garrett is easily the best player in this draft and should be taken first overall without any question. There is an argument for a number of guys as the second best overall player, but Garrett is the best by a very long way. This is the deepest secondary draft that I’ve ever seen. There will be excellent top tier corners and safeties taken in the third round and beyond that come out of this class. I could see 25 starters at those positions or more. It’s borderline ridiculous. The running back and tight end class are also very good. There will be a number of really good starters, pro-bowl players, and potentially even some Hall of Famers that come out of those two positions. Offensive line in this class is weak. There are a few players who are solid but unspectacular and all of them have some weaknesses in their game. The three top tackles all have some issues and while the interior of the line is better than the outside guys it’s n

2017 NFL Draft Profiles

Myles Garrett, DE Texas A&M 98 Simply the best player in this draft class. Garrett is a smooth and electric pass rusher with a bevy of moves and styles. He can lull you to sleep off the line at times and then run through you. His ability to convert speed to power and bulrush is as good as any player I’ve scouted. The reason he’s the best player in this class though is that not only can he be a game wrecker getting after the quarterback, but he is very solid against the run. Garrett can set the edge on first and second down and then make game changing plays on third down. His comparison in the NFL is Von Miller, although I think Miller was a bit more explosive rushing the passer and not quite as good against the run. If he achieves his potential he could be in Canton. 2. Malik Hooker – S, Ohio State 94 There’s reason personnel person and Buckeye fans call this kid Malik the Freak. He’s an extremely enticing blend of size and speed at 6’2 and 210 pounds, and a tremendou
