Two round mock, post- Free Agency

  1. Tennessee Titans – OT Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss
It just makes the most sense. To me Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa, and Jack aren’t separated by that much. In this case you’ve found your franchise quarterback in Mariota, now it’s time to help him succeed. Tunsil has tremendous footwork and can play right now in the league at left tackle at a high level. This is an easy selection.
    2.      Cleveland Browns – QB Carson Wentz, North Dakota State
The reason I have Cleveland going with Wentz is because he’s bigger and stronger than Goff and in that division I’d rather have someone with a stronger arm. I think the addition of RG3 means that you can sit Wentz for a year if you need and let him develop while you build up the roster around him. Wentz is going to be a good NFL quarterback if the Browns can get anything resembling an offense around him, as Hue Jackson is a really good football coach.
    3.      San Diego Chargers – DB Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
While I think there is a very good chance that the Chargers take Buckner or Bosa here I took Ramsey just  because I have him ranked higher. They need help all over the place so if I’m San Diego I simply take the top guy on my board and Ramsey is that for me so I think they pull the trigger here.
    4.      Dallas Cowboys – QB Jared Goff, Cal
While it’d be tough for me to do this if I were Dallas, Jerry Jones said he wants a Favre to Rodgers type scenario for his team. They are not going to pick in the top ten likely again while Romo is there so if that’s the vision he has for his team he has to pull the trigger here with Goff. If it were me I’d take Bosa and try to win a title while Romo is still around, but this isn’t about what I’d do, but about what I think the teams will do.
    5.      Jacksonville Jaguars – DE Joey Bosa, Ohio State
Jacksonville would be ecstatic if this happens on draft day. They’d not only add a tremendous player in Bosa, they also get Dante Fowler this season as well, essentially adding two top end pass rushers in one draft. If the Jags get Bosa, with the offseason they had and the explosiveness they have on offense, they could be a very dangerous team in 2016.
    6.      Baltimore Ravens – DE Deforest Buckner, Oregon
They could easily take Ronnie Stanley here but Buckner could be a tremendous fit and is a very good football player. I think Baltimore would definitely look to trade back here, especially if Goff is still on the board as someone may want to move in front of San Francisco to grab Goff. However, I can’t predict trades here so I have Ozzie taking a really quality disruptive player in Buckner.
    7.      San Francisco 49ers – LB Myles Jack, UCLA
I don’t think Jack fits exactly what that defense wants to do but he’s such a dynamic player it’d be very tough to pass him up at 7. Chip Kelly loves team speed and Jack has that in spades. While I believe that the 49ers would really hope one of the top two quarterbacks fall to them at 7, it doesn’t happen here so they take the best player on the board and a fast guy for Chip Kelly’s new look 9ers.
    8.      Philadelphia Eagles – RB Ezekial Elliot, Ohio State
Elliot is a really good football player and after the whiff on Demarco Murray last season the Eagles and coach Peterson want to bring in a bell cow. Elliot is tremendous in the passing game, which has been a staple of Peterson’s offense with Jamaal Charles. While it’d be tough for me to pull the trigger on a running back this early, he’d be a tremendous fit in the new offense and could provide a dynamic playmaker to help out whoever wins that quarterback competition.
    9.      Tampa Bay Bucaneers – CB Vernon Hargreaves, Florida
Tampa Bay really needs help in the secondary and Hargreaves is arguably the best cover corner in the entire draft. Adding Brent Grimes means that they don’t necessarily have to grab a corner here, but Hargreaves is a good value and Brent Grimes is definitely on the back nine  of his career.
    10.  New York Giants – DE Shaq Lawson, Clemson
While I think this might be a bit of a reach for Lawson here this draft is short on pass rushers and the Giants have to have someone to get after the quarterback. Lawson is a good player who can play the 43 defensive end spot or stand up and rush the passer and gives the G-Men an opportunity to fix a problem they’ve had for a couple of seasons.
    11.  Chicago Bears – LB Reggie Ragland, Alabama
Ragland is a really good football player and the Bears need a solid tackler on defense. Ragland can play on the edge on third down and rush the passer and play inside on run downs. His versatility and high floor is a really nice addition to a Bears defense that has a lot of needs.

    12.  New Orleans Saints – DT A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama
A versatile athletic defensive lineman, Robinson can play multiple roles up front for New Orleans. While I think New Orleans has a lot of holes, continuing to add quality players with upside on defense has to be their priority moving forward.
    13.  Miami Dolphins – OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame
I never would have guessed I would have had Stanley falling this far on draft day. There is a very real probability he doesn’t last past the sixth pick but this is a mock so who the hell knows what’s going to happen. This would be the ideal situation for Miami, who are in need of a quality tackle. Stanley is a really nice player and would instantly upgrade the offensive line in front of Ryan Tannehill who has to show improvement this season.
    14.  Oakland Raiders – DT Jarran Reed, Alabama
There are a number of places the Raiders could go here but I have them going defensive tackle and taking a solid player in Reed. I thought about them going with a corner here but Reed’s potential as a run stuffing interior player just makes sense here for them. They could go a number of different places including Eli Apple, Sheldon Rankins, Vernon Butler, or Mackenzie Alexander.
    15.  Los Angeles Rams – WR Laquan Treadwell, Ole Miss
While Paxton Lynch would be very intriguing here for Les Snead and company, Treadwell gives the team a legitimate number one for the first time since Jeff Fisher’s been there. They seem content going into the season with adequate Case Keenum so giving him a number one guy would give them a chance to see what he can actually do.
    16.  Detroit Lions – OT Jack Conklin, Michigan State
The dream scenario for Detroit happens here where they get a really quality tackle in Conklin. The team needs help at left tackle, and adding Conklin means they could kick Reiff to right tackle and improve two positions with one selection. They’d run this card to the podium.
    17.  Atlanta Falcons – LB Darron Lee, Ohio State
Atlanta wanted to get faster in the linebacking corps this offseason and adding Lee would certainly do that. Lee is a ridiculous athlete running a 4.4 40 at the combine and flashing the ability to drop into coverage, blitz, or chase plays down. He’s a good football player with high upside.

    18.  Indianapolis Colts – OT Taylor Decker, Ohio State
While I’m not nearly as high on Decker as the 18th pick in the draft, they simply have to upgrade their offensive line and Decker projects as a solid starting tackle. The pick would make sense and would be something everyone has been screaming at Grigson to do for years, which is protect Andrew Luck.
    19.  Buffalo Bills – OLB Noah Spence, Eastern Kentucky
The next best pass rusher left on the board, Spence carries some off the field baggage. That being said Ryan doesn’t care about that stuff, but he does want outside linebackers who can bring pressure. After a very disappointing defensive season last year the Bills look to improve off the edge here.
    20.  New York Jets – QB Paxton Lynch, Memphis
Without Fitzpatrick signed the Jets go after an athletic big strong guy in Lynch. While he may not be ready right now , with a good defense, and very plus playmakers the Jets pull the trigger on Lynch. If he can play decent football, the Jets could push for a playoff spot in the second season under Todd Bowles.
    21.  Washington Redskins – DT Sheldon Rankins, Lousville
The Skins need some defensive playmakers and take a really good interior pass rusher in Rankins. He’s probably the best interior rusher in this class and while undersized he does a good job winning with quickness against the run as well. In a division with Romo and Eli trying to win from the pocket, getting pressure up the middle could help the Skin’s get back to the playoffs again.
    22.  Houston Texans – WR Corey Coleman, Baylor
While Will Fuller and Vernon Butler were options here the Texans ultimately take Coleman. They are looking to get faster and Coleman is a go-get it type receiver to take some pressure off of Deandre Hopkins. All of the sudden the quarterback position is settled and the addition of Lamar Miller and continued development of Jaelen Strong means this offense could go from weak to dangerous in one offseason.
    23.  Minnesota Vikings – WR Josh Doctson, TCU
Taking Fuller here would be an option as well but Doctson seems to fit what Minnesota wants to do on offense a bit more than Fuller. I considered taking Cody Whitehair here for Minnesota but went with a receiver to help aid the development of a player I love in Teddy Bridgewater.
    24.  Cincinnati Bengals – WR Will Fuller, Notre Dame
Three straight receivers in this draft as the Bengals are in desperate need of receiver help. Fuller provides a major deep threat next to A.J. Green, which could really help Tyler Eifert and the running backs underneath. This would be a nice piece to a talented Bengals roster.
    25.  Pittsburgh Steelers – CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
While I like Alexander better than Apple almost everyone else doesn’t so I’m projecting Apple here to the Steelers. Pittsburgh might have the best offense in the league so this draft is going to be all about the defense. The secondary is where they go first, grabbing a quality guy who can play inside or outside in Apple.
    26.  Seattle Seahawks – DT Vernon Butler, Louisiana Tech
Offensive line was a potential selection here but the team likes interior pass rushers with speed and Butler’s quickness would be a really nice selection here. The Hawks’ offense has improved a ton over the past couple seasons, so going back on defense here with a really good player in Butler makes a ton of sense.
    27.  Green Bay Packers – TE Hunter Henry, Arkansas
I think this pick could go a number of different ways but adding a really good tight end for Aaron Rodgers has to be a consideration. Henry is clearly the best tight end in this class and he’d be a great interior piece for the Packers. This is a guy who could be a double digit touchdown guy if he goes to Green Bay.
    28.  Kansas City Chiefs – OG Cody Whitehair, Kansas State
With the loss of Jeff Allen the Chiefs could use a quality interior lineman. They added a really good center in last year’s draft with a pick I hated and was totally wrong about in Mitch Morse. If they add another quality guard, and Whitehair is the best one in this draft, the interior line would be a really solid group for KC moving forward.
    29.  Arizona Cardinals – DT Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss
Bruce Arians and company seemingly don’t care about off field issues and if they can get a player with the talent of Nkemdiche, I think they’d do it in a heartbeat. While there could be other holes to fill, the talent here is off the charts.

    30.  Carolina Panthers – DE Kevin Dodd, Clemson
Dodd is a quality 43 defensive end pass rusher and the Panthers really need help getting after the quarterback. The Panthers were a really good team last year but definitely could have used pass rushers to help close out the game, and Dodd is a guy who could help immediately.
    31.  Denver Broncos – QB Connor Cook, Michigan State
There were a number of spots I could have gone after here but quarterback was the obvious one. I think Cook would fit really well in Kubiak’s offense and he’s NFL ready right now which should be important in Denver’s selection.
    ROUND 2
    32.  Cleveland Browns – WR Braxton Miller, Ohio State
They have so many holes on this roster, but if it were me I’d have to look to add a playmaker. Miller is arguably the quickest player in this draft and he’d probably be the best playmaker on that team if Gordon isn’t reinstated. Also this is a  business, and Miller staying in state would be an advertiser’s dream.
    33.  Tennessee Titans – WR Michael Thomas, Ohio State
The Titans continue to try to help Mariota with the selection of Thomas. He’s not an extremely ready player but they are going to try to continue to build and Thomas provides good upside and has good size and length with decent speed.
    34.  Dallas Cowboys – CB Mackenzie Alexander, Clemson
There were some thoughts of staying in state and getting William Jackson but ultimately the toughness and swagger of Alexander entices Jerry Jones here. He’s a good football player who I really like and this would be a tremendous value here.
    35.  San Diego Chargers – C Ryan Kelly, Alabama
After grabbing the best player on the board with the 3rd pick, they grab the best center in the draft in round two. He would provide a huge immediate upgrade for the Chargers and is a really good football player.
    36.  Baltimore Ravens – OT Germain Ifedi, Texas A&M
I like Ifedi but not as much as everyone else does. After not going offensive line in round one, they take the next best one available here. Ifedi kind of reminds me a bit of Osemele and if he can be anywhere near where K.O. was as a player the Ravens would love this pick.
    37.  San Francisco 49ers – DT Andrew Billings, Baylor
I’m not sure exactly where they would go here but Billings is a big powerful guy who could help out the 49ers defense. Adding him and Jack gives the 9ers some really good athletes at each position.
    38.  Jacksonville Jaguars – CB William Jackson III, Houston
The Jaguars continue to add quality defenders by adding a really fast outside corner in Jackson. There is a real possibility that Jackson won’t make it out of round one so this would be a nice selection for the Jags.
    39.  Tampa Bay Bucaneers – S Vonn Bell, Ohio State
The Bucs continue to improve their secondary with the addition of Bell. While a receiver like Tyler Boyd would be intriguing here, there are still a couple years left for Vincent Jackson in Tampa.
    40.  New York Giants – RB Derrick Henry, Alabama
The Giants have to get better running the football and Henry is a really good player. While he won’t need to play on third down for the Giants as they have a great third down runner in Shane Vereen, Henry can handle the power run load.
    41.  Chicago Bears – DE Emmanual Ogbah, Oklahoma State
Ogbah could go 20 picks higher or 20 picks lower depending on who you listen to, but for me here the Bears need to improve their pass rush and Ogbah can totally help there. He’s not without warts but he’s arguably the best pass rusher left on the board at this point.
    42.  Miami Dolphins – CB Kendall Fuller, Virginia Tech
Fuller would have likely been a first round pick had he not gotten hurt, and after Miami gave up on Brent Grimes and his wife they could use secondary help. Fuller if he’s healthy would be a quality player from day one for the Fins.
    43.  Los Angeles Rams – CB Xavien Howard, Baylor
To me Howard is a third round type guy but with corners flying off the board and this team losing Janoris Jenkins they need to look corner sometime in this draft. Howard has the potential to be a starter in the league so LA pulls the trigger here.

    44.  Oakland Raiders – S Jeremy Cash, Duke
Cash is a playmaking safety who can come up and hammer you. The Raiders need secondary help and get it here with Cash.
    45.  Los Angeles Rams – QB Dak Prescott, Mississippi State
After avoiding quarterback in round one the Rams go after a dual threat guy in round two. Prescott reminds me a ton of McNair and therefore he could be a great fit with Jeff Fisher. If the Rams want to make a splash at quarterback this could be their spot.
    46.  Detroit Lions – DT Chris Jones, Mississippi State
Jones would likely be a first round pick in most drafts but with super deep defensive tackles in this years class he falls to round two. That’s a great grab for Detroit who really improves both lines in this mock draft.
    47.  New Orleans Saints – CB Will Redmond, Mississippi State
Three straight Bulldogs go here as New Orleans looks to improve a poor secondary. Redmond might not have a huge upside but he could be a quality player in the league for a while.
    48.  Indianapolis Colts – DE Jonathan Bullard, Florida
While I think Nick Martin is a real consideration here they go with a pass rusher instead. Bullard can get after the quarterback and right now the team really doesn’t have anyone that can rush the q.b. with any success. After going offensive line in round one they pass on it in round two.
    49.  Buffalo Bills – DT Kenny Clark, UCLA
The Bills defensive tackles are expensive and getting older so adding someone to take over for them eventually while providing depth now makes sense. While there were some linebackers I considered here Clark was a good fit.
    50.  Atlanta Falcons – S Keanu Neal, Florida
I really don’t like Neal as much as everyone else does, but it seems he’s going in the top two rounds so I put him to Atlanta here. The team has a need at safety and Neal’s solid so he just is an obvious fit here.

    51.  New York Jets – G Nick Martin, Notre Dame
The Jets could use an improvement at guard and so they grab Martin here. While I think he projects as a really good center, having someone who can play both positions makes some sense. Plus Martin is an immediate upgrade at the position.
    52.  Houston Texans – S Karl Joseph, West Virginia
While the Texans would have liked to have Martin fall to them here they do need help at safety and Joseph is a really good player. I have him ranked higher than the other safeties in my rankings but most others don’t so he falls to Houston at 52, which would be a nice snag for the Texans.
    53.  Washington Redskins – DB Jalen Mills, LSU
The Redskins could use some help in their secondary and so they grab a versatile defender in Mills. Where a lot of people think he’s a free safety I think he could play nickel, outside, or inside.
    54.  Minnesota Vikings – G Vadal Alexander, LSU
While I’m not that high on Alexander his ability to play tackle or guard is a really nice piece. The Vikings have to improve their pass protection and the addition of Andre Smith will help but a guard could help even more.
    55.  Cincinnati Bengals – DE/OLB Leonard Floyd, Georgia
I have no idea what they are going to do here but they could use some pass rush help and Floyd is the best pass rusher available here. I could see him going 20 picks higher but just never had anyone pull the trigger in this mock.
    56.  Seattle Seahawks – OT Jason Spriggs, Indiana
Tom Cable picks weird lineman but the Hawks desperately need an athletic lineman and Spriggs is without question that. I’m not sure I love Spriggs but he has great feet, and he can get to the second level and cause problems for defenses. He needs to get stronger but Cable’s a great line coach so there’s a chance for success here.
    57.  Green Bay Packers – ILB Joshua Perry, Ohio State
A great tackler who could play the first two downs inside which would let Matthews kick outside where he belongs. After adding a great tight end in round one, the Packers biggest need becomes an inside backer, and they get a really solid one here in Perry. Plus hugely high character guy means he’d fit in super well in Green Bay.
    58.  Pittsburgh Steelers – OLB Kyler Fackrell, Utah State
Fackrell can do a lot of things, but ultimately he’s just a good football player and Pittsburgh wants to continue to improve defensively. Fackrell looks smooth dropping into coverage and rushing the passer. He would add at worst a nice rotational guy and sub package guy for the Black and Gold.
    59.  Kansas City Chiefs – WR Tyler Boyd, Pittsburgh
A guy who can run and go get the football gives Kansas City another weapon on the outside. While there are a few other positions of need here Boyd could really fit in well in KC’s offense.
    60.  New England Patriots – LB Kentrell Brothers, Missouri
With the departure of Jared Mayo the team needs an inside backer and Brothers would be an interesting fit for the Pats. While wide receiver is an option here they decide to continue to add up on defense. Brothers is a good tackler and a good football player.
    61.  New England Patriots – CB Rashard Robinson, LSU
While the off field stuff will bother some teams, it won’t deter the Pats. Robinson has all the tools you’d want in a corner and with two good corners already the team can afford to let him develop. It also provides some insurance in case Malcolm Butler leaves next off season.
    62.  Carolina Panthers – OT Le’Raven Clark, Texas Tech
The Panthers play a weird sort of offense so the jump for Clark wouldn’t be as high as for some teams. The team needs help on the edge on both sides of the line and Clark could potentially help them. While I’m not hugely high on him at the end of round two I don’t think It’s a huge reach here.
    63.  Denver Broncos – G Joshua Garnett, Stanford
While I think they desperately need a tackle, they seem okay playing Stephenson or staying status quo at the tackle positions with Okung and potentially Clady. To me that means they could use another lineman so I have them grabbing a really good player in Garnett here. They need a quarterback and line help so I had them grab the best lineman on my board here.

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT BIOS

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT BIOS  Extra notes I put in italics. Some of these are from Senior Bowl or Combine notes that may have caused an update, and some are from watching extra tape later on in the Pre-Draft Process and I didn’t want to type everything up again.  Blue are guys I’m higher on by at least one round and usually 2 or 3 rds than consensus. Marvin Harrison Jr, WR Ohio State 99 I’m not trying to be contrarian here by putting Harrison Jr first ahead of Williams and Maye. The thing is my ratings are not positioned based when I do Bios and Harrison is the 2nd best prospect I’ve ever scouted (behind only Andrew Luck) so he has to get this rating. Harrison Jr is going to walk into the NFL and be a top 10 WR immediately. He has perfect size at 6’4 and 215 pounds and yet is a truly elite route runner. He creates separation and can get in and out of breaks like someone 6 inches shorter. His acceleration and ability to leave defenders looking lost is a rare trait. On to...

TOTAL VALUE ADDED 2024 NFL DRAFT

This isn't an article saying what team did the best based on their draft slot or anything like that. This is simply a points chart. I listed 200 players on my overall player rating board and put them up on a list and used the Spielberger draft chart to assign a point value to every slot. Based on my chart mixed with his value chart I came up with a points value chart for every single team in the NFL for the 2024 draft. We'll look back at this every year after 3 seasons to see how bad I was.
