Final Mock Draft

Hey guys, this is my final 2016 NFL Mock draft. These picks aren't what I would do, but what I believe the GM's of the teams will do... I don't project trades, although I believe there will be a big number that happen in the first two days. This is a two round mock and my last one.

  1. .       Los Angeles  Rams – QB Jared Goff, Cal
The reason I go with Goff here is that I believe the Rams think that with good quarterback play immediately they can compete in the NFC West. Goff is probably a bit more NFL ready than Wentz and although I like Wentz slightly more than Goff, I think you’re splitting hairs when debating the two. The Rams gave up a bunch, but as someone so eloquently put it, the Rams have a ton of buns and no hot dogs right now, and ten buns with no hot dogs equals a really crappy barbeque. Maybe the Rams finally found their grill master in Goff.
    2.       Philadelphia Eagles – QB Carson Wentz, North Dakota State
I really don’t understand the Eagles offseason moves at quarterback. Okay resign Bradford as a bridge quarterback, I can understand that, even though you vastly overpaid him. If that’s what you’re going to do though, why do you give Chase Daniel that much money? Seven million per season and 12 million guaranteed is a haul for a backup quarterback, who will now be relegated to third string. All that said, one of those guys is likely to get shipped as Philly makes way for the talented Wentz. While Wentz may need a year or two to figure out the NFL game and particularly the speed, his tools and intangibles are fantastic. I think he’ll be a huge success in Petersen’s offense, as he is a bigger, stronger, potentially quicker Alex Smith. To me he’s a notch above where Bortles was as a prospect and he’s definitely worthy of a top selection in the draft.
    3.       San Diego Chargers – OT Laremy Tunsil, Ole Miss
I believe that the Chargers want to trade this draft pick as they potentially have a bottom three roster in the NFL with Tennessee and Cleveland. I think you could make that case, and therefore adding more selections over the next couple of seasons is what they should look to do. However, in this scenario I’m not doing trades as it gets too convoluted down the stretch so here I have them taking Tunsil. The team needs offensive line help in a big way, and while Ramsey will certainly be in the conversation here, Tunsil is at a more premium position and the Chargers value that more. You really can’t go wrong here with Tunsil, Bosa, or Ramsey, but I think the choice at this point would be between Tunsil and Ramsey, and as Tunsil plays a “priority” position the Bolts go with the Rebel tackle.
    4.       Dallas Cowboys – DE Joey Bosa, Ohio State
This is going to be a really interesting spot on Thursday night, as there is a very real chance Ezekiel Elliot gets selected in this spot. Elliot could lead the league in rushing as a rookie behind that offensive line and I think that idea is making Jerry Jones very intrigued. That being said the team lost its three best pass rushers from a season ago due to suspension and free agency at least for part of the season. Bosa can rush from the outside or inside and is a very good run stopper on the edge. The past couple of seasons Dallas has been more conservative and probably overall better in the draft than in years past. Bosa and Elliot are both fantastic football players, and the Cowboys believe they can get good run production from anyone behind that line, which is why they let Demarco Murray walk two seasons ago.

    5.       Jacksonville Jaguars – DB Jalen Ramsey, Florida State
Ramsey comes in and plays corner for the Jags, giving Gus Bradley a big physical shut down corner after adding  a few really nice pieces in the offseason. The choice here is between Rasmey and Jack, and while Jack may be a better fit, Jacksonville already has a very speedy and productive Will linebacker in Telvin Smith. That means this gives the Jags a chance to shore up the defensive backfield with the number one player on my board at pick five. This offseason may have been won by the Jags with the additions of Malik Jackson, Gipson, and now Ramsey, the Jags could move to the forefront of the AFC South.
    6.       Baltimore Ravens – DE Deforest Buckner, Oregon
This pick could be Jack Conklin or Ronnie Stanley as well, but Buckner is rated higher on my board and therefore is the selection here for the Ravens. The other reason to grab Buckner is he’s a perfect fit as a disruptive 5 technique in Baltimore’s scheme. The Oregon product is tremendous against the run, uses his hands as well as anyone in this draft, and has continued his ascent as a pass rusher. I think while Buckner was good this past season, he’s continuing to improve and in years three and four he could be one of the better 34 defensive ends in football.
    7.       San Francisco 49ers – OT Jack Conklin, Michigan State
Conklin can come right in and be a very good starter for the 49ers. Chip Kelly has shown how much he values tackles in the draft by grabbing Lane Johnson early to play right tackle and that’s what Conklin can do immediately. Jack doesn’t fit in this system so the 49ers pass on the speedy linebacker to take one of the safest picks in the 2016 draft. Conklin is as consistent as they get and he can flat out win with power on the right side. Eventually he can shift to left tackle as well, or even be a pro-bowl caliber guard. Versatility and power along with plus movement skills gives Kelly a talented guy in the trenches.
    8.       Cleveland Browns – LB Myles Jack, UCLA
The choice for Cleveland here is between Jack and Elliot, but the Browns already took a big time running back early once a few years back and that didn’t work out well. I personally would not have traded back if I were Cleveland but accumulating picks and still getting one of the 6 elite players in this draft I understand the decision. Jack is a freak athlete who can run sideline to sideline as Cleveland tries to improve its weak defense in a very good division.
    9.       Tampa Bay Buccaneers – CB Vernon Hargreaves, Florida
While I considered Stanley here for a second the Hargreves fit makes the most sense. Number one that division is ridiculous at quarterback with Brees, Newton, and Ryan, and therefore defensive backs are at a premium. Secondly, Tampa Bay isn’t awful at offensive tackle by any stretch. Thirdly, Hargreaves is from Florida and the schematic fit should make sense overall. I’d actually be surprised if Hargreaves doesn’t end up in Tampa.

    10.   New York Giants – RB Ezekiel Elliot, Ohio State
The Giants have continuously tried to get Eli a good running back throughout the years but haven’t really been able to find a bell cow since Tiki Barber. Elliot is the real deal and while the G-men would certainly consider a tackle here like Ronnie Stanely, Elliot is the better player and his pass game skills along with his ability to block are beyond elite. He’d fit in well in New York and pairing him with Odell Beckham and Eli makes for perhaps the scariest trio in the league.
    11.   Chicago Bears – DE Shaq Lawson, Clemson
This was a tough selection for me but the Bears need a pass rush. I understand the Leonard Floyd is flying up draft boards, but to me Lawson is the better player. He’s extremely disruptive, isn’t as much of a project, and works extremely hard every single down. The Bears need someone to chase Rodgers, Stafford, and Bridgewater in the NFC North and Lawson can step right in and be a factor from day one.
    12.   New Orleans Saints – OLB Leonard Floyd, Georgia
Speaking of Floyd, he doesn’t last one more pick as the Saints grab him at 12. To me I’m not as high on him as most people but I can certainly see the appeal. He has tremendous athleticism and upside but he’s raw as a pass rusher right now and will have to develop. The Saints need someone to chase around the qbs in the talented NFC South and Floyd can do that.
    13.   Miami Dolphins – OT Ronnie Stanley, Notre Dame
I’m not a fan of the GM for the Dolphins, as I think he’s the second worst GM in the NFL behind Ryan Grigson. That being said he gets a nice selection here at 13 in Ronnie Stanley. Stanley could go as high as 6 but the Dolphins stand pat and get a very solid offensive tackle with the 13th selection. The Dolphins need more consistent play up front and with Stanley they get a guy who can pass protect at a high level and understands screens and draws very well. He’s a smart offensive lineman who can move well enough to help them right away on the left side.
    14.   Oakland Raiders – DT Sheldon Rankins, Louisville
Man the defensive tackle position here is like flavors of ice cream, they’re all freaking delicious it’s just which flavor do you like the most. For me here Rankins makes sense because he’s a very good interior pass rusher with quickness. I would take him because it would give defenses fits trying to defend both he and Khalil Mack on the outside. The Raiders are continuing to get better and figuring out more ways to get to the quarterback makes sense here. With an outstanding offensive line and emerging weapons, this Raiders team is going to be scary moving forward.
    15.   Tennessee Titans – WR Laquan Treadwell, Ole Miss
The Titans were going to take Laremy Tunsil with the first pick to help Marcus Mariota, instead they trade down and grab a ton more picks and still end up with the best wide receiver in the draft. In doing so, they helped out Mariota just like they set out to. If this is the scenario that plays out on Thursday it’s a phenomenal situation for the Titans. Mariota showed he’s the real deal last season, and finally getting a number one receiver in Nashville to team up with Green-Beckham, Hunter, Walker, and Murray means the Titans have some weapons for the young signal caller.
    16.   Detroit Lions – DT Jarran Reed, Alabama
This pick could go a number of different directions, but with the Lions grabbing some wide receivers in free agency, and Treadwell off the board the team goes to the interior. Reed is an exceptional run blocker who can push the pocket on passing downs. While he’s not super quick  he shows very good pursuit and effort. The Lions have a few holes to clean up but grabbing Reed means the interior of their defensive line should be very tough to run on for a few seasons.
    17.   Atlanta Falcons – LB Darron Lee, Ohio State
The Falcons said they wanted to get faster at linebacker and boy do they ever with the addition of Lee. He’s 250 pounds and runs a legitimate 4.43, meaning he’s a freak of nature. Lee can play any of the three linebacker spots on a defense and can run with any tight end in the league. While he’s not a thumper, he’s a solid tackler who takes good angles overall. Where he’s going to separate himself is on third downs and in passing situations. The Falcons would run this selection to the podium if Lee’s there on draft day.
    18.   Indianapolis Colts – OT Taylor Decker, Ohio State
I’m not nearly as high on Decker as everyone else but this pick makes a lot of sense for Indy. They simply have to get better on the offensive line and while they will consider Ryan Kelly here, Decker’s length and ability to play tackle ultimately wins out in the war room. Decker can come right in and play and help protect Andrew Luck.
    19.   Buffalo Bills – DT Vernon Butler, Louisiana Tech
This pick could go a number of different ways. I think Buffalo really wants either Lawson or Floyd to fall to them but I doubt either does and therefore they go with the athletic defensive tackle Butler. He’s a really good football player and moves extremely well for a 325 pound guy. I think Reggie Ragland would be in play here for Buffalo as well but in this scenario they take Butler to help get after the quarterback from the interior.
    20.   New York Jets – QB Paxton Lynch, Memphis
I think Lynch will actually be in play as early as the 7th pick to San Francisco as he’d be exception in Chip Kelly’s system but the Jets take him at 20 in this mock. There are a number of teams that will vie for Lynch’s services, as he is perhaps the biggest winner from the Eagles trade up to number two. The Jets should just pay Fitzpatrick the money he wants because if not it’s likely that Lynch will have to play as a rookie, and I think he would benefit hugely from at least one year to learn.

    21.   Washington Redskins – S Karl Joseph, West Virginia
This was Eli Apple until yesterday when the Skins made the big time move for zone corner Josh Norman. Joseph is a very talented guy who would have been easily in the first round had he not gotten hurt. Joseph isn’t a perfect prospect but he’s a very talented guy and with the two moves for Norman and now Joseph, the Skins secondary goes from an afterthought to a truly good unit in the matter of a week. While I think this is a slight reach if only due to injury concerns and lack of prototype size, its obvious the rest of the league is on board with Joseph in the first round.
    22.   Houston Texans – WR Corey Coleman, Baylor
The Texans invested over $120 million on their offense in free agency, finally going out and getting a quarterback after 14 seasons of mediocre play. In doing so the team needs to go out and find weapons for the young signal caller. While Joseph would have been in play and defensive tackle is certainly an option here as well, Coleman’s speed and big play ability are elite. Adding him to Hopkins and Strong, with newly acquired Lamar Miller takes the Texans offense from a very weak unit in 2015, to perhaps a top 10 unit in 2016. Coleman is raw, and Hunter Henry is very much in play here at tight end as well, so this is my best guess. The Texans clearly wanted to get faster on offense and Coleman would certainly help in that department.
    23.   Minnesota Vikings – WR Josh Doctson, TCU
I love Rick Speilman as a GM and think he’s one of the best in the business and he continues his string of good drafts with the selection of Doctson here. He made a tremendous pick in adding Stafon Diggs last season and now adds perhaps the player with the best ball skills in the 2016 class with Doctson. The Vikings offense is going to be west coast in nature with Bridgewater at the helm and Diggs, Doctson, and Kyle Rudolph are guys who excel in that type of system. Doctson is ready to contribute right away and instantly gets the Vikings another red zone threat as well.
    24.   Cincinnati Bengals – DT Andrew Billings, Baylor
The Bengals have in my opinion the best roster in the entire league, and adding Billings is simply another solid move. They don’t have many holes on defense but quality defensive lineman are hard to find and Billing is a monster on the interior. They could look corner here but they need to trust that last year’s first round pick will develop and they are certainly in win now mode so Billings can help right away.
    25.   Pittsburg Steelers – CB Eli Apple, Ohio State
The Steelers are ecstatic that Apple falls to them at 25. While I’m not as high on him as most, I can certainly see the appeal as he has prototype H/W/S. My issue with Apple is that his ball skills are mediocre at best, some of that is due to technique at Ohio State which is a man-centric concept and back to the quarterback style. Some of it though is that he doesn’t track the ball as well as I’d like. Regardless he’s an immediate upgrade at the Steeler’s most pressing position and cements Pitt as the cream of the crop in the AFC North, and my Super Bowl favorite.
    26.   Seattle Seahawks – DT A’Shawn Robinson, Alabama
The Seahawks could certainly look on their offensive line here, or could potentially even look to Derrick Henry here. However, in this scenario the team gets perhaps the most versatile defensive lineman left on the board and a very good player in Robinson. He can play 34 defensive end, 43 defensive tackle, or a strong side 43 defensive end against the run. He’s quick for a big guy, gets fairly consistent pressure, and plays with good solid technique. While he’s not a stat sheet stuffer like some, he’s very good against  the run and can cause problems in the pass game. He’s well coached a s well with good leverage and technique.
    27.   Green Bay Packers – ILB Reggie Ragland, Alabama
A dream scenario here for Green Bay in that they can take a player who is versatile and well coached and helps the team at two positions. Getting Ragland means the team can kick Matthews back outside where he belongs improving at both outside and inside linebacker. Ragland can play either inside spot and when the team goes to nickel he may be their second best defensive end outside of Matthews in a 4 man front. This would be an easy pick if he’s still there for the Pack.
    28.   Kansas City Chiefs – CB Mackenzie Alexander, Clemson
The Chiefs’ offseason wasn’t great as they lost their backup quarterback and offensive coordinator, then their best defender tore his ACL and is out for the 2016 season. After that the team lost stud corner Sean Smith in free agency to division rival Oakland, meaning KC had a rough go. The team has a need at corner, and while they should have tried to shore it up in free agency, poor cap management left that as a pipe dream. In this scenario the Chiefs grab physical corner Alexander in hopes they can replace Smith. While Alexander’s ball skills leave a lot to be desired his toughness and grit means he can play the man-to-man style that Andy Reid likes. Last year KC was in man more than 60% of passing plays.
    29.   Arizona Cardinals – C Ryan Kelly, Alabama
Kelly is a really good football player who can play right away. The Cards were going to move Jonathan Cooper to center this season but instead shipped him and a second rounder to the Pats for stud pass rusher Chandler Jones. It was a great move for both teams as New England couldn’t have kept Jones next season and Arizona likely can and needed a pass rusher badly. This left the Cards without a center and Kelly is clearly the best in the draft. While I think the Cardinals would have loved for Paxton Lynch to fall to them here and drafted their qb of the future. In this scenario they get someone who can help them compete for a Lombardi trophy immediately.
    30.   Carolina Panthers – CB William Jackson III, Houston
Other people have Jackson ranked higher and have him going all the way up at 16, I have him about where he should be at 30 to the Panthers. There’s no way in hell I would have let Norman out of my building if I were Carolina, but now that he’s gone you have a major hole at pass rusher, offensive tackle, and corner and you can’t fill them all right here. While Kevin Dodd and Germain Ifedi are without question in play here, the team takes Jackson due to the division they play in.
    31.   Denver Broncos – QB Connor Cook, Michigan State
While it may be a reach to grab Cook here, he is potentially the most NFL ready quarterback in this draft. The Broncos believe they can win a title with mediocre quarterback play, they did last year with Peyton Manning as a trainwreak. Cook can simply manage the game as a rookie with an easy offense to run and a still elite defensive unit. While Denver still has holes on the offensive line, if Okung can stay healthy it’s better than it was last year without question. Cook gives Denver its best chance to compete for a second consecutive Super Bowl title.
    ROUND 2
    32.   Cleveland Browns – WR Will Fuller, Notre Dame
The Browns seem like they are content to just continue to build their roster and they simply need a better receiving corps. In this scenario they grab Will Fuller and get a big time down field weapon. In Hue Jackson’s offense the team likes weapons all over the field and Fuller’s 4.3 speed is a major weapon in any sense of the word. While he’s still raw, he’s also very talented and can take his time to develop into a quality weapon.
    33.   Tennessee Titans – Germain Ifedi, OT Texas A&M
While he’s not in the conversation that the first four tackles are in this class Ifedi has super high potential. He’s raw as hell now and has to grow into the position but the Titans need offensive line help. Lewan is okay on the left side and he’ll continue to improve but the team needs help all over the line. If Ifedi can’t turn into the right tackle you want, you can always kick him inside to guard where I think he can be a quality player.
    34.   Dallas Cowboys – RB Derrick Henry, Alabama
While I don’t necessarily think he’s a great fit, Jerry Jones simply couldn’t pass up two stud running backs in this draft. Henry is a bruising powerful runner with much better than perceived speed. While he doesn’t make people miss he always falls forward and runs with great strength. The kid is enormous and behind the Dallas offensive line, it could be extremely difficult for teams to stop him consistently.
    35.   San Diego Chargers – CB Kendall Fuller, Virginia Tech
Fuller would have probably been the third corner off the board had he not gotten hurt. In this scenario the Chargers passed up Ramsey in round one for Tunsil but go after another quality cover guy in round two. The pair of Fuller and Verett would be as good as any young twosome in the league and could keep them together as a tandem for a long time.
    36.   Baltimore Ravens – S Vonn Bell, Ohio Staet
While the Ravens wanted to address their offensive line with the top 5 guys off the board it would be a major reach to take one here. The team needs help all over the place and takes a really solid secondary piece in Bell. He can cover but really likes to hit more and plays a physical brand of football that thrives in the AFC North. He’s simply a good player at a position of need, an Ozzie special.
    37.   San Francisco 49ers – OLB Emmanual Ogbah, Oklahoma State
The 49ers need an outside linebacker to help bring heat and Ogbah is the best one left on the board without any baggage. While the team would consider an offensive weapon here instead they take a pass rusher who can help in a division with Carson Palmer, Russell Wilson, and the number one pick of the Rams.
    38.   Jacksonville Jaguars – DE Kevin Dodd, Clemson
Not sure where the Jags will go here but after having a stellar offense in 2015, they continue to pour resources into defense. The addition of a healthy Dante Fowler Jr into the fold in 2016 means they will already have an improved pass rush so adding Dodd will simply help even more. He’s a pretty polished player and can help on a four man front consistently. While he’s not going to ever be the most athletic guy he plays with good effort and leverage and the Jags definitely have to pressure the passer better.
    39.   Tampa Bay Buccaneers – DT Chris Jones, Mississippi State
With so many defensive tackles in this class Jones finds himself in the second round. Tampa Bay could use someone to pair with star Gerald McCoy and Jones’s speed and power combination are enticing. Again the Bucs could look to take an offensive tackle here but there just simply isn’t one worthy of the pick so they make their defensive front scarier.
    40.   New York Giants – TE Hunter Henry, Arkansas
The team doesn’t know if Donnell can come back full from his injury so they grab another offensive weapon for Eli. The team’s weapons have just potentially become the scariest in the league and adding another really good piece makes this one of the most dangerous offenses in the league. Henry is clearly the best tight end in this class and to get him at 40 is a steal.
    41.   Chicago Bears – DT Kenny Clark, UCLA
After getting a pass rusher in the first round the Bears continue their assault on the defensive side of the ball with Clark. There is a very good chance he goes in round one so to get him this deep in round two is excellent for the Bears. Clark is a nice piece and can help a Chicago front seven immediately.
    42.   Miami Dolphins – CB Artie Burns, Miami
I believe after the top 5 corners in this draft there is a decent drop off but most people love Burns. I am one of those that do not but I can see the appeal as he’s exceptional in terms of H/W/S. I personally think his technique is very bad and he relies way too much on athleticism. That being said a lot of teams are in love with him and Miami takes him here to help shore up a mediocre secondary.

    43.   Tennessee Titans – OLB Kamelei Correa, Boise State
The Titans have a lot of holes and decide here to simply get better rushing the passer. While its probably not one of their biggest needs Correa gives them a quality pass rusher with their 3rd of their first 4 picks in the top 45.
    44.   Oakland Raiders – CB Xavien Howard, Baylor
No clue where this guy is going to go but most people think round two. I probably wouldn’t take him until round three but a lot of guys love him. This gives the Raiders some hedge against their former first rounder corner not working out.
    45.   Tennessee Titans – OG Cody Whitehair, Kansas State
Again the Titatns have to get better up front and Whitehair is this draft’s top rated guard. The team has needs all over the place but Chance Warmack hasn’t worked out like they wanted and they traded away big time free agent signing Andy Levitre, meaning their need at guard is still there.
    46.   Detroit Lions – CB Will Redmond, Mississippi State
The Lions found a stud in Darius Slay and now need to pair him with someone else. Redmond is a good player who can do a lot of differen things defensively. The issue with Redmond is I’m not sold on his upside and he may struggle with really good top tier wide receivers. Lucky for him he is the number two guy in this scenario as Detroit won’t let Slay leave.
    47.   New Orleans Saints – WR Michael Thomas, Ohio State
The Saints need another offensive weapon outside of stud Brandin Cooks and Thomas gives them a quality player. He’s not going to wow you most likely in the NFL but he projects as a really good secondary weapon. While they still have needs on defense, Thomas is a nice value here at the 47th selection.
    48.   Indianapolis Colts – C Nick Martin, Notre Dame
Martin can play anywhere along the offensive line but center is where he projects as the best player. I think Martin is going to be a very good pro and right away Indy’s line is much better than a year ago. The move makes all the sense in the world so likely Grigson won’t do it.
    49.   Buffalo Bills -  OLB Noah Spence, Eastern Kentucky
Spence is possibly the best true outside pass rusher in this draft class the major question is his character. If teams are okay with it, he could easily go in the first round, maybe even all the way up to number 7. However, in this scenario he drops down because people aren’t sold on him and perhaps the Bills can get an absolute steal in the middle of round two. He’s worth the risk at this point.

    50.   Atlanta Falcons – WR Sterling Shepherd, Oklahoma
The Falcons have to find a secondary weapon behind Julio Jones and they do with the quick speedster in Shepherd. The kid is tough and catches the ball well and is extremely difficult to stop once the ball is in his hands. He also provides major upside as a return guy.
    51.   New York Jets – DE/OLB Shilique Calhoun, Michigan State
I’m not sure where the Jets will go here as I think corner is their next biggest area of need but without one worthy of the pick here they take a pass rusher in Calhoun. He can help them right away and is very solid against the run with upside as a pass rusher. He’s a nice piece and can play 43 defensive end in nickel or Jack in a 34.
    52.   Houston Texans – S Miles Killebrew, Southern Utah
The Texans considered defensive tackle in this spot but as the position is still showing good depth here the Texans attempted to solve their safety need by taking the big hitting Killebrew. While he’s not great in coverage, he can really hit and would give the Texans a big time thumper in the back end.
    53.   Washington Redskins – LB/S Su’a Cravens, USC
The Redskins are going to continue to try to get better on defense, and they certainly got faster in the nickel situations with Cravens. He’s your new age sub package linebacker who can run down plays. With Joseph, Norman, and now Cravens the Redskins sub packages just became one of the best units in the NFC.
    54.   Minnesota Vikings – G Joshua Garnett, Stanford
The Vikings had to get better in protection this offseason and adding a high quality intelligent guard certainly would help. Garnett is a mauler who rarely misses a pass blocking assignment. He can help this team immediately and is a very good run blocker as well, helping pave the way for All Day.
    55.   Cincinnati Bengals – LB Joshua Perry, Ohio State
Perry is a phenomenal tackler and the Benagls may be in need of a player on the inside as you never know whether they can trust Burfict to stay on the field. The Bengals are extremely deep but you can never have enough great tacklers.
    56.   Seattle Seahawks – G Landon Turner, North Carolina
Turner compares really favorably  to former Seahawk lineman James Carpenter and therefore may be a good fit in Tom Cable’s offense. Turner is a mauler on the inside who can help open up holes for whoever is the full time replacement for Beast Mode.

    57.   Green Bay Packers – DT Austin Johnson, Penn State
The Packers losing B.J. Raji created a small need for a big time player on the inside. Johnson is a really solid player who can help free up space for rookie linebacker Reggie Ragland. Tight end is definitely an option here and Austin Hooper and Jerrell Adams were options but Johnson is a better player and Ted Thompson rarely reaches.
    58.   Pittsburgh Steelers – DL Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss
The Steelers are the perfect organization to take this risk. Nkemdiche is an excellent selection in this spot as he goes to a great organization deep in round two where the expectations will be lower. His skill set is that of the best player in this class, that’s a case that’s not tough to make. The question is his effort level, love of the game, and whether or not he can keep his nose clean. If he does the Steelers get the best value of the first two days of the draft right here.
    59.   Kansas City Chiefs – WR Braxton Miller, Ohio State
Miller is too good not to go in the first two rounds of this draft and he goes to a perfect situation in Andy Reid’s offense. Reed will find ways to get him the ball and Miller is possibly the best receiver in this class once the ball is in his hands.
    60.   New England Patriots – DE Jonathan Bullard, Florida
A versatile defensive lineman from Florida, almost chalk this pick up to Belicheck. After getting rid of Dom Easley and Chandler Jones, the Pats find themselves in need on the defensive front. Bullard is a quality player who can move around and therefore makes a ton of sense for New England here.
    61.   New England Patriots – CB Harlan Miller, SE Louisiana
Belicheck always goes for an unknown defensive back early and Miller actually wouldn’t be a huge reach here. He’s talented and was exceptional in pre-draft games. He could play corner or safety and could provide a hedge in case they can’t resign Maclolm Butler next season.
    62.   Carolina Panthers – OT Jason Spriggs, Indiana
I’m not in love with Spriggs as a prospect but he does have a ton of talent. He’s got good feet and athleticism but is very raw and needs some time to develop. Their offensive line was weak last year and got to the Super Bowl so if Spriggs can come on he could play earlier than you’d think.
    63.   Denver Broncos – OL La’Raven Clark, Texas Tech
He’s raw but he can move and Denver needs help all over it’s offensive line. While Clark may not be a perfect prospect his ability to get out in space makes him a Gary Kubiak special in terms of lineman.

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT BIOS

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT BIOS  Extra notes I put in italics. Some of these are from Senior Bowl or Combine notes that may have caused an update, and some are from watching extra tape later on in the Pre-Draft Process and I didn’t want to type everything up again.  Blue are guys I’m higher on by at least one round and usually 2 or 3 rds than consensus. Marvin Harrison Jr, WR Ohio State 99 I’m not trying to be contrarian here by putting Harrison Jr first ahead of Williams and Maye. The thing is my ratings are not positioned based when I do Bios and Harrison is the 2nd best prospect I’ve ever scouted (behind only Andrew Luck) so he has to get this rating. Harrison Jr is going to walk into the NFL and be a top 10 WR immediately. He has perfect size at 6’4 and 215 pounds and yet is a truly elite route runner. He creates separation and can get in and out of breaks like someone 6 inches shorter. His acceleration and ability to leave defenders looking lost is a rare trait. On to...

2021 NFL Draft Prospect Write Ups

2021 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT WRITE UPS Trevor Lawrence, QB Clemson 99 Lawrence is the best quarterback prospect since Andrew Luck and he’s only the second quarterback I’ve ever given the elusive 99 rating. Lawrence has only lost two games his entire career at Clemson as the starter there and has been nothing short of incredible. He has great size at 6’6 and around 225 pounds with plus movement skills. When he scrambles his long strides pick up yards in chunks. He has a big time arm that can show equal parts touch and howitzer depending on the situation. Lawrence throws a beautiful deep ball as well and has exceptional pocket awareness. Ultimately he’s someone who if you give him the pieces can be one of the best at his position in the NFL and potentially of all time. He has that type of ability. What makes Lawrence so incredible is that he can create big plays without taking unnecessary risks. He has 90 touchdowns with just 17 interceptions in his career and added on 18 touchdowns on ...

2014 overall grades

1.           Jadeveon Clowney, DE South Carolina 98 Some people may ask about his productivity or his work ethic but no one can question his talent. The former number one high school player in the country is now the number one draft prospect. He has a completely unique skill set at his size running a 4.5 40 with an 82 inch wingspan. He has a rare speed to power move that can absolutely dominate blockers. He has more much more speed than Mario Williams and more size than Dwight Freeney. A complete freak that can’t be stopped by double teams, he could be the best defensive player in the league within a year or two. 2.        Greg Robinson, OT Auburn 98 People who are 332 pounds should not run 4.8 40’s. As much as Clowney is a physical anomaly so too is Robinson. He is one of the most dominating players at the point of attack that I’ve ever watched, and I’m not just talking about college players. He is a bit raw in h...
