2017 MOCK DRAFT 1.0

FIRST MOCK DRAFT
1.       Cleveland Browns – DE Myles Garrett, Texas A&M
Best player in the class without any question. The Browns have massive holes everywhere so taking the best player available makes all the sense in the world.

2.       San Francisco 49ers – FS Malik Hooker, Ohio State
The 49ers gave Shannahan and Lynch 6 year contracts so this is a long-term rebuild, which is exactly what it should be. The team doesn’t need to reach on quarterback so they take a playmaking safety.

3.       Chicago Bears – SS Jamal Adams, LSU
Adams is the safest pick in this draft in my opinion and gives the Bears a huge upgrade on the backend.

4.       Jacksonville Jaguars – RB Leonard Fournette, LSU
The team desperately needs running back help and with another offseason of “Winning” free agency the team tries to find a complement to see what they really have in Bortles.

5.       Tennessee Titans – WR Mike Williams, Clemson
They definitely consider corner here but with another first round pick they give Mariota the weapon he has needed since entering the league.

6.       New York Jets – QB Mitchell Trubisky, North Carolina
The Jets brass is on their last legs so taking a quarterback, even if it’s a reach can sometimes buy the management at least one year.

7.       San Diego Chargers – DE Jonathan Allen, Alabama
Pairing Allen with Bosa means this front line could be the nastiest in football in a couple of seasons. They would like for a safety to fall but since one didn’t they went best available.

8.       Carolina Panthers – DE Derek Barnett, Tennessee
The team absolutely needs a dynamic pass rusher and they take a very good player at 8 overall.

9.       Cincinnati Bengals – LB Rueben Foster, Alabama
The Bengals take an excellent player who can do everything and play all 3 downs immediately.

10.   Buffalo Bills – CB Corey Davis, Western Michigan
They lost a borderline number two in Robert Woods and need to give Taylor someone to pair with Sammy Watkins. Davis is a really good football player who can help move the chains.

11.   New Orleans Saints – CB Marshon Lattimore, Ohio State
Since Jones went down Lattimore is pretty much the consensus number one corner in this class, and even if NOLA can pry Butler from New England, they still would likely take Lattimore here.

12.   Cleveland Browns – QB Deshaun Watson, Clemson
A proven winner and someone who can help change the culture. They got those lineman in free agency to protect someone, why not Watson.

13.   Arizona Cardinals – DE Soloman Thomas, Stanford
Someone randomly falls every single year in the draft and this year it’s Thomas. I doubt he drops this far on draft day but it’s a mock so I tossed this out there. The team needs to replace Calais Campbell and Thomas is a similar type player.

14.   Philadelphia Eagles – CB Tredavious White, LSU
White is a really good corner and it’s likely the Eagles biggest need at corner. He can help in the return game as well which helps his overall value.

15.   Indianapolis Colts – RB Dalvin Cook, Florida State
The Colts can’t rely on Frank Gore for much longer and Cook is a dynamic back. They could definitely use corners or lineman but they go with more help for Andrew Luck.

16.   Baltimore Ravens – OT Cam Robinson, Alabama
The Ravens lost a solid right tackle in Rick Wagner and need to replace him and Robinson is a true right tackle who can step in and help immediately.

17.   Washington Redskins – WR John Ross, Washington
They lost their deep threat when Desean Jackson left town so they get a younger version of him in Ross.

18.   Tennessee Titans – CB Gareon Conley, Ohio State
The other Ohio State corner is rising up draft boards quickly and the Titans need help at that spot. They solve both of their biggest needs in round one.

19.   Tampa Bay Buccaneers – LB/DE Haason Reddick, Temple
Not sure where Tampa will go here but an extremely versatile linebacker and pass rusher makes a lot of sense.

20.   Denver Broncos – OT Garrett Bolles, Utah
One of the worst offensive lines in football continues its makeover with the ultra athletic Bolles.

21.   Detroit Lions – DE Taco Charlton, Michigan
I’m not that high on Charlton but they need someone to pair with Ansah and Charlton has a really high upside.

22.   Miami Dolphins – DE Charles Harris, Missouri
Same deal with me on Harris, I think he’s a second rounder but everyone else loves him so we’ll see. Miami desperately needs someone to get after the quarterback.

23.   New York Giants – OT Ryan Ramcyzk, Wisconsin
A really good and solid offensive tackle prospect can go play the left side allowing the disappointing Ereck Flowers to kick inside or to the right tackle spot.

24.   Oakland Raiders – DT Malik McDowell, Michigan State
This guy is a ridiculous athlete who can be one of the top 5 players in this class if he can figure out how to keep his motor going consistently. High risk, high reward, the Raiders way.

25.   Houston Texans – QB Deshone Kizer, Notre Dame
The Texans are so desperate to find a quarterback solution and the top 3 tackles are off the board so they go with Kizer at this point. If Romo is in Houston by draft time this may change.

26.   Seattle Seahawks – OL Forrest Lamp, Western Kentucky
No idea where he’ll play in Seattle but the team is so desperate for line help that they just take a really good football player and will figure out where to play him up front.

27.   Kansas City Chiefs – SS Jabrill Peppers, Michigan
The team has very little needs and with the top 3 quarterbacks off the board they simple go with the best available player here.

28.   Dallas Cowboys – CB Adoree Jackson, USC
The team needs corner help and Jackson can give them that as well as a dynamic return man.

29.   Green Bay Packers – RB Christian McCaffrey, Stanford
Yes they need cornerback so badly but they also need a running back and McCaffrey gives them a ridiculous playmaker. This could be the scariest offense in the league, and cornerback is so deep in this draft they can grab one next round.

30.   Pittsburgh Steelers – LB Takkarist McKinley, UCLA
A team that needs a pass rusher gets a specialist in Takk McKinley. He’s a really solid 34 outside backer and a great scheme fit.

31.   Atlanta Falcons – LB T.J. Watt, Wisconsin
They want someone to pair with the NFL sack leader Vic Beasley and get a good pass rushing piece in Watt.

32.   New Orleans Saints – LB Jarrad Davis, Florida
The team got their corner earlier and then go with a really good football player to patrol the middle in Davis.

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT BIOS

2024 NFL DRAFT PROSPECT BIOS  Extra notes I put in italics. Some of these are from Senior Bowl or Combine notes that may have caused an update, and some are from watching extra tape later on in the Pre-Draft Process and I didn’t want to type everything up again.  Blue are guys I’m higher on by at least one round and usually 2 or 3 rds than consensus. Marvin Harrison Jr, WR Ohio State 99 I’m not trying to be contrarian here by putting Harrison Jr first ahead of Williams and Maye. The thing is my ratings are not positioned based when I do Bios and Harrison is the 2nd best prospect I’ve ever scouted (behind only Andrew Luck) so he has to get this rating. Harrison Jr is going to walk into the NFL and be a top 10 WR immediately. He has perfect size at 6’4 and 215 pounds and yet is a truly elite route runner. He creates separation and can get in and out of breaks like someone 6 inches shorter. His acceleration and ability to leave defenders looking lost is a rare trait. On to...

TOTAL VALUE ADDED 2024 NFL DRAFT

This isn't an article saying what team did the best based on their draft slot or anything like that. This is simply a points chart. I listed 200 players on my overall player rating board and put them up on a list and used the Spielberger draft chart to assign a point value to every slot. Based on my chart mixed with his value chart I came up with a points value chart for every single team in the NFL for the 2024 draft. We'll look back at this every year after 3 seasons to see how bad I was.
