mock 4.0 senior bowl week mock

This is what I think will happen with a twist - I'm going to mock all 32 teams and give all at least one draft pick, but I'm ALSO going to give them a free agent I THINK they should sign.

So this exercise is a mock on what I think will happen for the draft and what I think the team SHOULD do for the free agent. Feels like it's something different and hey we've got 6 weeks til Free Agency so this will give everyone something to read.

This also doesn't include any free agents I think they should re-sign.

Effective Cap Space: the cap space a team will have after signing at least 51 players and its projected rookie class to its roster.

1. Chicago Bears - QB Caleb Williams, USC

I think the Bears ultimately trade Justin Fields to someone, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Denver, and pull the trigger with Williams who is one of only a handful of 99 players who have ever come out. If he doesn't give you Patrick Mahomes vibes I can't help you.

Bears "Effective" Cap Space: $34.7m

Bears Free Agent Addition: Edge Bryce Huff

* Huff is an electric pass rusher and while the Bears added a stud in Montez Sweat, they can add another piece that can make this pass rushing unit go from pedestrian to dynamic quickly.

2. Washington Commanders - QB Drake Maye, North Carolina

I think Washington goes with Maye here who outweighs Daniels by 30 pounds and probably has the bigger arm. In almost any other draft Maye would be a slam dunk with the first overall pick but he landed in a class with Caleb Williams. Maye will bring a playmaker and someone with every tool you'd ever want in a QB at number two overall. He's Justin Herbert but a better runner.

Commanders "Effective" Cap Space: $62.6m (#1)

Commanders Free Agent Addition: OL Michael Onwenu

The Commanders need to put serious assets into both its offensive and defensive line and they start here with a multi positional offensive lineman. I think Onwenu fits well because he can play guard or tackle for the Commanders and while he'll likely not be cheap, he also won't break the bank. Edge was a serious consideration but your franchise is now in the hands of a rookie, protect him at all costs.

3. New England Patriots - QB Jayden Daniels, LSU

They probably considered MHJ here but they can't walk away from this draft top 3 without an elite talent at QB. Daniels has elite athletic abilty and throws a beautiful deep ball. The past two seasons he's been incredibly adept at taking care of the football as well, something that a defensive coach like Jerod Mayo would have to like. His ability to pick up first downs with his legs and not turn it over along with hitting bombs is enticing.

Patriots "Effective" Cap Space: $57.3M (#3)

Patriots Free Agent Addition: WR Gabriel Davis

Davis is a great run blocker who thrives on deep balls. The Patriots need to give Daniels his best chance to succeed and giving him a great deep ball guy will augment what he does best. Plus they are so weak at WR that this will be a big upgrade. He's not a 1, but it's okay to have a few 2s and 3s.

4. Arizona Cardinals - WR Marvin Harrison Jr, Ohio State

MHJ is the best non-QB I've ever scouted and he comes not only in position 4 here in this mock which is exceptional value, he also comes at a serious position of need. While I believe the Cardinals will do what they can do to keep Hollywood Brown, if they lose him MHJ could walk into that building as a top 10 WR in the NFL as a rookie.

Cardinals "Effective" Cap Space: $31M (#11)

Cardinals Free Agent Addition: CB Kendall Fuller

Fuller is a very good player who can play inside or outside and the Cardinals have arguably the worst group of cornerbacks in the NFL. Adding someone with his versatility could immediately vault this group up the board. The team has good cap space but not a huge amount and Fuller represents probably the 3rd best free agent CB available. He shouldn't break the bank.

5. Los Angeles Chargers - WR Malik Nabers, LSU

The Chargers are likely going to have to release WR Mike Williams this offseason due to injury risk and the huge cap hit that he has and the team needs to get more explosive. While Jim Harbaugh could certainly look to add to the OL here as his teams have thrived on OL play, taking someone who can take the top off the defense like Nabers is too tough to pass up.

Chargers "Effective" Cap Space: -$55.4m (#30)

Chargers Free Agent Addition: C Aaron Brewer

Brewer isn't a fancy player by any means but he's solid and despite being undersized he plays bigger than he is. The Chargers are going to lose Corey Linsley here and they need capable guys up front. He was PFF's 11th rated center last season and while that's probably too high, he's a league average guy which is just fine.

6. New York Giants - WR Rome Odunze, Washington

The Giants keep on saying that they believe in RT Evan Neal and because of this I think they are going to go with a WR here. The Giants have approached the WR position with a bunch of ancillary pieces but they absolutely have to go get a stud. Odunze reminds me of Jamarr Chase and a player like him could improve this offense immediately. Position of need, key position, elite player. Checks all the boxes.

Giants "Effective" Cap Space: $14m (#18)

Giants Free Agent Addition: G Robert Hunt

The Giants have to improve the interior of their offensive line and they need to do it immediately. Hunt is a powerful offensive lineman who should command a nice salary in the 10-12m per year range but he would instantly improve this team.  He was terrific for the Dolphins this past season and his ability to create running lanes inside is key for a team that has struggled to block for the past few seasons. He won't come cheap, but he's an immediate upgrade in a major sense of the word.

7. Tennessee Titans - OT Joe Alt, Notre Dame

People are starting to come around to my way of thinking on the grades that Alt is the best LT in this draft. He's as solid as they come, has a blocking win rate as high as anyone you'll ever see coming out of school and has Pro Bowl, maybe even All Pro potential at a key position. Plus Tennessee had maybe the NFL's worst OL this year, this is one of the draft's easiest selections.

Titans "Effective" Cap Space: $62m (#2)

Titans Free Agent Addition: G Kevin Dotson

The Titans had again, the NFL's worst OL last season and now have a plethora of capital to utilize. The team goes out here and signs maybe the most valuable OL in this year's free agent class in Kevin Dotson. He was solid with the Steelers but took his game to another level this season with the Rams showing an ability to gap and inside zone block as well as anyone in the game. His floor is exceptionally high and he's shown an impressive ceiling.

8. Atlanta Falcons - EDGE Laitu Latu, UCLA

The Falcons took a step forward on defense this past season in part to some excellent free agent additions, led by the NFL's best safety in Jesse Bates. However, while they've improved as a pass rushing unit, they could really use someone who can win one on one on the edge. Latu can play 43 edge or 34 OLB and he wins with a bevy of pass rushing moves, motor, and explosiveness. While they could use a corner, a wr, and definitely a QB, it's not a reach to take Latu here, he's excellent.

Falcons "Effective" Cap Space: $20m (#14)

Falcons Free Agent Addition: QB Justin Fields

No this isn't a free agent addition so I cheated here a bit but even with Arthur Smith gone this would be a fun fit. The team has explosive weapons and a pretty darn good offensive line. What they don't have is a trigger man. Giving up their second round pick for Fields and a late pick in 2025 seems very reasonable and would allow them to actually use the weapons at their disposal.

9. Chicago Bears - CB Terrion Arnold, Alabama

While I have Arnold a touch lower on my list, he's a cornerback created in a lab. The Bears are likely going to keep Jaylon Johnson but even if they do, they need a running mate for him. He can play inside or outside for Chicago and has good ball skills, is solid in press or off, and he's a very nice player with big upside. I know everyone will want Chicago to take a WR here but the value isn't there after the top 3 so they take the ultra high upside Crimson Tide corner.

Bears "Effective" Cap Space: $34.7m

Bears Free Agent Addition #2: Tyler Boyd

This one isn't exciting as Boyd is pretty much a slot only option at this point in his career but QB's even as gifted as Williams need security blankets. DJ Moore is a superstar and they already have a nice TE weapon on the roster in Cole Kmet, so let's get him a chain mover. Boyd is consistent with elite hands and still runs crisp routes at a price that likely won't worry the bottom line. It's not a sexy move, but young QBs have to have guys who will be in the right place and Boyd is a great complimentary piece.

10. New York Jets - OT Olu Fashanu, Penn State

No matter what happens this next season is 100% all in for the Jets with the weirdo douche bag at QB and so they have to add help on the OL. The Jets front 5 was a travesty this season and so they are going to take an OL at this spot no matter what. They are fortunate that Fashanu is still there. While he lacks some physicality to his game, you can't question his ability in pass protection as his athleticism and ability to mirror is exceptional.

Jets "Effective" Cap Space: $400k (#21)

Jets Free Agent Addition: S Taylor Rapp

The Jets have essentially zero safeties on the roster at this point with Whitehead and Clark both gone to free agency and the team needs to figure out how to save some cash. Rapp won't be expensive and I think he can probably play either safety spot at a fairly decent level. Plus he's only 26 years old.

11. Minnesota Vikings - EDGE Dallas Turner, Alabama

The Vikings right now are going into this season essentially without a pass rusher. Hunter is a free agent and so is Davenport so excpecting that they'll lose one or maybe both, the team has to have a replacement ready. I still believe very strongly that Minnesota ends up keeping Kirk Cousins, and so they will be more in win now mode with him at the helm, but even if they don't, Turner is an athletic edge with great burst who could help provide the team with pressure and a replacement for the aforementioned duo.

Vikings "Effective" Cap Space: $19.5m (#15)

Vikings Free Agent Addition: CB Steven Nelson

The Vikings really don't have much cap space at all if you have to figure on a Cousins extension here so they have to go bargain shopping. Nelson has never not been a good corner in the NFL and this past season for Houston he  was very good, finishing in the top 25 in almost every analytical category. He also is 31 so nobody is going to be overpaying but the Vikings have to improve at CB and he'd be a nice piece to add with Murphy.

12. Denver Broncos - QB Michael Penix, Washington

I don't know what they are going to do, but I do know that Russell Wilson's time here is likely almost done. Penix has an impressive arm, put up huge numbers at Washington, and showed impressive arm talent at the Senior Bowl. The fact that he is a plus rhythm thrower is huge in Sean Payton's offense as he's been looking for someone to run the scheme he wants for a long time.

Broncos "Effective" Cap Space: -$27.7m (#28)

Broncos Free Agent Addition: CB Chidobe Awuzie

Awuzie wasn't all the way back from injury this season for the Bengals but his upside is still very good. Pairing him with Surtain would give them a nice duo out there and would allow for the team to be more aggressive defensively. The team is very upside down in terms of financial resources this season so they'll have to take a swing at the junk pile and see if they can find some treasure.

13. Las Vegas Raiders - OT Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State

Fuaga is a menacing run blocker with elite power and good movement skills. At 335 pounds he bullies people and is dominant at the point of attack. He projects as a good pass protector and immedaitely would upgrade the right side of the Raiders offensive line. For what it's worth this is the landing spot I see for Russell Wilson at QB.

Raiders "Effective" Cap Space: $31.4m (#10)

Raiders Free Agent Addition - G Jonah Jackson

I'd be very surprised if Andre James leaves the Raiders as they know how good he is. They're probably going to be looking for someone younger to build around an so they could go out and find a nice piece like Jonah Jackson here. For years their line has been mediocre and now they work on building around it with Antonio Pierce trying to instill a level of physicality. Jackson misses some games but he's a good player when he's on.

14. New Orleans Saints - OL Troy Fautanu, Washington

The Saints are in some offensive line trouble which is crazy considering the assets they've poured into the OL over the years. Trevor Penning has been a huge miss. They overpaid and overdrafted Andrus Peat and Cesar Ruiz, and now Ryan Ramczyk is supposedly facing maybe a career threatening injury. The team needs help. Fautanu is an excellent athlete who excelled at LT for the Huskies but could probably play any spot on the OL. The idea here is let's get a great player up front and figure out his position later.

Saints "Effective" Cap Space:  -$87.8m (#32)

Saints Free Agent Addition - OT Geron Christian

Based on everything I've said up top this makes sense. Not to mention the Saints have the worst cap situation in the NFL again, but almost no way to remedy it this year. Christian can play left or right tackle and while he's not great, he's also not terrible in pass pro. He battles and having a swing tackle who is essentially decent for no money is the goal here.

15. Indianapolis Colts - TE Brock Bowers, Georgia

There is absolutely no freaking way in a hundred mock drafts that Brock Bowers should last to number 15 - and yet... Bowers is an ideal TE candidate with elite RAC abilty, great hands, a good feel for coverage, and a willing and capable blocker. He has Kittle like RAC ability and is an offensive weapon, but with team needs and positional value taking place in this mock, he slides a huge amount to 15. Do I see this happening, no - but it did here.

Colts "Effective" Cap Space: $54.7 (#4)

Colts Free Agent Addition: Chase Young

Indy isn't going to let Pittman walk so we're going to go into this thinking that they have Pittman under contract for 2024. While they have nice pieces off the edge, they don't' have any real difference makers out there so they go out and get one in Chase Young. Young is explosive, dynamic, and needs to prove himself so he bets on himself in a one year deal with Indy here to bring his value back up.

16. Seattle Seahawks - QB JJ McCarthy, Michigan

This is a new coaching staff here in Seattle and while McDonald might want to add to an ascending young defense, instead he gets his QB of the future. McCarthy is an exceptional athlete who takes care of the football and throws it with accuracy. His arm talent is underrated though as he has an absolute cannon. He likely needs a year of seasoning though as while he played a good amount at Michigan he wasn't asked to do a lot, and with Geno in the fold for one more year, this is a great transitional opportunity.

Seahawks "Effective" Cap Space: -$9.5m (#23)

Seahawks Free Agent Addition: G/C Graham Glasgow

The Hawks are likely to bring back Damien Lewis but he's going to test free agency so they need to replace a lot of interior players. Glasgow is a nice player on the inside and can easily play both guard and center adding a very nice versatile piece for whichever team gets him. He's still got good football left in him and you 'd have to imagine this offense being physical with McDonald at the helm as HC.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars - WR Brian Thomas, LSU

The Jags and Trevor Lawrence for that matter just honestly aren't that impressive. They're fine, they show glimpses, but the lack of consistency and the lack of elite play is starting to get worrisome. The team needs something that can pop and here it is. Thomas has incredible juice down the field and should open up the underneath stuff for the team's three best weapons, Kirk, Engram, and Etienne. Thomas is the player who can provide you with 40 yard plays over and over again. He'll also help in the red-zone.

Jaguars "Effective" Cap space: $7.4m (#20)

Jaguars Free Agent Addition: C Evan Brown

This might not be a fun addition but it's a pretty easy argument that Luke Fortner has been the NFL's worst starting center the last two seasons. While Brown isn't great, he's pretty good and was okay for Seattle last season and was pretty darn good in limited snaps for the Lions. At worst he's good depth and can push Fortner for a starting spot on a team without much cap space - particularly after they bring back Josh Allen.

18. Cincinnati Bengals - OT JC Latham, Alabama

Latham is a monster. He is absolutely enormous out there at RT and adding him here would give you the biggest tackle duo in the NFL and would force defenders to go the long way to get to the human pinata known as Joe Burrow. While he's not quick, he's got good punch and is plus in the run game, constantly moving people and displacing spots there. He needs some work, and honestly it wouldn't surprise me if he has to go to guard at some point but Jonah Williams is not an NFL tackle and he's been stuck out there for too long. This would be a nice move.

Bengals "Effective" Cap Space: $53.2m (#4)

Bengals Free Agent Addition: TE Dalton Schultz

The Bengals shouldn't let Tee Higgins walk with the amount of cap space they have so at worst I see them placing the franchise tag on Higgins. If they do so getting a real TE target for Joe Burrow should be next on the to do list. Schultz isn't flashy but he's a solid run blocker who has put up 577 or more yards each of the past 4 seasons including 22 TDs. The guy is a good player and while he won't come cheap, you have the money to upgrade this position. He could be an 800 yard receiver with Burrow at the helm.

19. LA Rams - CB Quinyon Mitchell, Toledo

He may go way higher than this come draft day as Mitchell is not just a ballhawk, but one of the best off corners I've scouted. He put up 38 PBU's combined over the past two seasons and not only does he have elite ball production, he has good size and has been over 20 MPH on the GPS regularly. If you question his level of competition, go watch the Senior Bowl where it felt like he pitched a shutout for the week. Elite player at the Rams worst position.

Rams "Effective" Cap Space: $23.8m (#13)

Rams Free Agent Addition: C, Tyler Biadasz

I have never been a Coleman Shelton fan and Biadasz isn't great but he's a very consistent player. Over the years he's slowly improved into being a nice solid starting center in the NFL. With Shelton and Dotson both hitting free agency, I don't think you can let them both walk. Bring in Biadasz as a quieting presence.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers - CB Cooper DeJean, Iowa

If the top 5 QBs weren't off the board I would certainly consider one here, and RT is a need as well, because they should move Broderick Jones to the left side and replace Dan Moore. They also need a third wide receiver too, but Patrick Peterson needs to not play corner anymore. DeJean is a freak athlete with elite speed and is one of the best tacklers at the corner position you'll ever scout. He's a physical player and should fit perfectly in the Steelers organziation.

Steelers "Effective" Cap Space: -19.7m (#25)

Steelers Free Agent Addition: LB Azeez Al-Shaair

The Steelers have very little LB depth on the roster and need to bring in bodies who can help. Al-Shaair is a sideline to sideline player who can do a bit of everything. He could start for them as a 3rd linebacker and play some nickel as well.

21. Miami Dolphins - C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon

I'm not a huge fan of drafting interior players early but the Dolphins are likely going to lose Connor Williams and Robert Hunt is a free agent. In this scenario they've lost both guys and it's almost a must they go inside here. JPJ is a powerful guy who rarely if ever loses reps. His strength and ability to re-anchor showed up constantly at the Senior Bowl and it could push him into the top 32.

Dolphins "Effective" Cap Space: -$58.9m (#31)

Dolphins Free Agent Addition: DT Teair Tart

The Dolpins are going to lose quite a bit this offseason and they haven't even extended Tua or Jaylen Waddle yet. They really went all in with their contracts and now have to pay a price. Their entire interior are free agents and they also have Raekwon Davis headed out the door with Christian Wilkins a pending FA. Going to be tough for them. Tart is a weird dude who you have to question the effort but after getting cut by Tennessee and not really impressing in Houston, maybe he's a buy low player who can provide good play on a prove-it deal?

22. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Nate Wiggins, Clemson

The Eagles are going into this season with Darius Slay (33) at one corner spot, James Bradberry who had an atrocious year at the other spot, and Avonte Maddox at the nickel. The odds of all three playing well and/or being healthy are exceedingly low. Wiggins is a physical dynamic athlete who could give them good solid reps early in his career. Philly has two up and comers in Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks but we don't know what they are. Too many unknowns for Eagles brass to not try to fix it with a first rounder.

Eagles "Effective" Cap Space: $16.2m (#16)

Eagles Free Agent Addition: RB JK Dobbins

I think the Eagles should probably bring back D'Andre Swift and actually utilize him but if they don't then go with someone like JK Dobbins and see if you can't hit a homerun. Dobbins is extremely explosive he just can't stay healthy. A contract that carries a bunch of incentives would be a way to try to get the most from the position.

23. Houston Texans - WR Adonai Mitchell, Texas

The Texans made immense strides this past season, led mostly by three rookies, CJ Stroud, Will Anderson, and Tank Dell and the emergence of Nico Collins. The issue Houston ran into is that when Dell got hurt the other WR on the roster couldn't make an impact. Houston has to get a third weapon and that's where Mitchell comes in. He would fit in very well as a good route runner despite having great size at 6'4 and while he may overlap with Collins some, having two guys with that combination of size and speed can't hurt. He'd be a serious upgrade at the WR position.

Texans "Effective" Cap Space: $54.3m (#5)

Texans Free Agent Addition: DL Chris Jones

Why not? Houston has a ton of cap space, a great young nucleus and a division that is obviously ripe for the taking. Jones would love to play for Demeco Ryans and Houston wants to build from the inside out. Jones is likely looking at a massive contract but with a QB on a rookie deal and money to spend - this team makes as much sense as any for the number one free agent in the class.

24. Dallas Cowboys - DE Jared Verse, Florida State

Verse shouldn't last this long on draft day but for some reason he does here. Dallas does a good job of just finding talent in the draft and while this may lead people to think this is too many pass rushers - that's impossible. Also with Micah Parsons' ability to rush from anywhere this just opens up more opportunities. Verse is too good of a value at 24 to let go by. - side note, I think if any team in the draft is going to move up to get something huge and make a huge splash - my bet would be on Dallas.

Dallas "Effective" Cap Space: -$22.8m (#27)

Dallas Free Agent Addition: CB Kenny Moore

Jerry Jones says he's going to be very aggressive in free agency and the draft but he doesn't currently have the money to do that. Expect a bevy of contract extensions and cuts this offseason. Moore provides the perfect player for Jones to go get this offseason though, a good player at a position of need. Moore is at his very best in the slot where Dallas could use some help.

25. Green Bay Packers - DT Byron Murphy, Texas

This may seem weird for some but the Packers actually do have some need at 3/5T. Kenny Clark is getting older and the team likely moves away from Preston Smith. Murphy at 300 pounds can play a variety of places on your defensive line and honestly based on PURE tape in college football, he was the player other than Joe Alt that I thought won the most reps. Green Bay could go corner here if they move on from Alexander, or they could even go X WR. Hell they may even try to improve at LT, but in this situation, why not just grab a great football player. At I think a sneaky position of need.

Green Bay "Effective" Cap Space: -$7.4million (#23)

Green Bay Free Agent Addition: S Chuck Clark

The team needs to improve at the safety position and with both Darnell Savage and Jonathan Owens as free agents, adding a veteran who simply is a good damn football player is the best move. Clark isn't flashy but he plays the game the right way and likely won't break the bank.

26. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - G Graham Barton, Duke

Barton is a valuable pickup here for Tampa Bay because he could play guard, center, or tackle. In fact he did play center and tackle at Duke. He plays the game with a nasty demeanor and could walk in and be a massive upgrade over Aaron Stinnie with an ability to fill in at tackle in a pinch. He's such a physical beast that playing him next to Tristan Wirfs would transform the left side of this line into a wrecking ball. Tampa has to run the ball better this season - this is the best way.

Tampa Bay "Effective" Cap Space: $34m (#9)

Tampa Bay Free Agent Addition: LB Willie Gay

Tampa actually has zero cap space. They are going to try to bring back Baker Mayfield, Mike Evans, Lavonte David, and to franchise tag Antoine Winfield. There goes all their money plus a lot. In fact odds are they can't get all 4 of those guys back. They also could lose out on Devin White this offseason. This is why I recommended them going after a player like Willie Gay. He's only 26 years old and should be a piece you can worth with for 3-4 more seasons. He's athletic enough to spy and can play a variety of roles for your LB corps.

27. Arizona Cardinals - CB Kool-Aid McKinstry, Alabama

This is a wonderful selection for the Cardinals. A month ago if you told them that McKinstry would be available at 27 nobody would have believed it but through no fault of his own he drifted down draft boards. He's a very good corner and looks the part of a low end CB1 or high end CB2. Adding Kendall Fuller in Free agency before and now McKinstry is an excellent overhaul of the DBs.

Arizona "Effective" Cap space: $31m (#11)

Arizona Free Agent Addition: DL Dorance Armstrong

The Cardinals don't have a ton of money but they have some and they need to add another pass rusher to the group. Armstrong isn't good against the run but he's tall, angular, and effective as a pass rusher. This past season he picked up 8 sacks and it feels like a repeatable number. He's not someone you want to play 800 snaps but in half that he can be exceptionally effective.

28. Buffalo Bills - WR Devontez Walker, North Carolina

Walker is a big fast WR from UNC who can absolutely fly. He's a 21-22MPH guy and his size is plus. He's got a sudden release, not worrying about press coverage. His ability to go get it should compliment Josh Allen very well and help create the big plays that free up the Buffalo offense.

His Senior Bowl week was disappointing. He figured out how to get open after day 1 consistently but struggled with drops. I still think he finds his way into round 1 based on traits and tape.

Buffalo "Effective" Cap Space: -$54.5m (#29)

Buffalo Free Agent Addition: DT Benito Jones

They don't have any money and they have even less cap space so this spot is going to go to just simply fill a hole with the least amount of money possible. Jones helped Detroit's run defense this season and he played an impressive 546 snaps. He won't earn much more than the minimum.

29. Detroit Lions - CB Ennis Rakestraw Jr, Missouri

Rakestraw is a physical press corner who has good size and fluidity. Watching him the two words that pop up are smooth and explosive. He'll pop you in the mouth but has the abiilty to run with you and stay stuck in your hip. Detroit desperately needs corner help and Rakestraw is someone who can match up with anyone in terms of athleticism and his physicality will play well in Detroit.

Detroit "Effective" Cap Space: $45.2m (#6)

Detroit Free Agent Addition: Edge Danielle Hunter

I think Allen and Burns both stay with their respective teams which leaves Hunter as the best edge rusher available on the market. Detroit has a huge oppurtunity this next year to make a push for a Super Bowl as a couple of dropped passes probably cost them a shot this year. With plenty of cap space and their coordinators back they have to push some chips in. Hunter is an eletric pass rusher, still in his prime who can pair with Hutchinson and McNeil to provide a dangerous pass rushing trio for the Lions.

30. Baltimore Ravens - DL Jer'Zhan Newton, Illinois

Newton is undersized but explosive and could help replace DT Justin Madubuike if he ends up leaving. Newton has a powerful punch despite his size but uses some electric moves to get upfield quickly causing issues. His ability to rush the passer could help mitigate the loss of Madubuike, or could give them yet another weapon from the inside.

Baltimore "Effective" Cap Space: $5.1M (#19)

Baltimore Free Agent Addition: G Jon Runyan

Both Ravens guards are free agents this offseason and with so many people up for free agency it's going to be impossible for them to keep everyone. I don't love the fit as Runyan is a better pass protector than run blocker but maybe the Ravens need to make some more adjustments as their playoff offense was stymied again.

31&32 decided via coin flip

31. Kansas City Chiefs - WR Troy Franklin, Oregon

While there are players maybe I like more than Franklin, he'd be the best fit here with KC replacing MVS. Frankli has tremendous play speed who can lineup in the slot or out wide and at 6'3 he has good size to get the deep balls. I worry about him with drops and contested catches as he's probably only about 175 pounds but in that KC offense volume won't be his reponsibility. He could help open up the offense even more and should be good for some deep attempts every week, something KC desperately needs.

KC "Effective" Cap Space: $15.7m (#16)

Kansas City Free Agent Addition: DL Calais Campbell

The team likely can't keep both Chri Jones and L'Jarius Sneed but I'm thinking they'll keep Sneed. This leaves a whole on the DL that they'll need to fill with a versatile player up front. Campbell even at 37 years old was really good for the Falcons last season. The Chiefs used Jones up and down the line which is exactly what Campbell can do. Campbell will be out ring chasing, and this is definitely his best shot.

32. San Francisco 49ers - CB Kamari Lassiter, Clemson

While this 49ers team is built exceptionally well with a cheap QB and elite talent all over the field, they could certainly use an infusion of talent at corner. Lassiter paired with Moody Ward gives this team a 1-2 punch that athletically few in the NFL could compete with. It also puts Lenoir where he should be, in a complimentary role where he can better use his talents.

SF "Effective" Cap Space:  -$11.7m (#24)

SF Free Agent Addition: RT Isaiah Wynn

I think McKivitz at RT could be another spot SF looks to upgrade. While it's possible they draft someone in round two to push him, instead I have them go to free agency to do just that.  Wynn has played left tackle, and guard in his career but his athleticism might play well out at RT as well. While it's not a perfect snag, why not take a swing on a high upside guy with some injury history. The fact he can play all over the line at worst gives you depth, but at best you find an answer at RT while not precluding you from drafting a guy  you like if you find one.

MOCK 3.0 What I THINK will happen

Man even looking back at my mocks from 2 months ago, things change so fast in this cycle. Players get hurt, teams go on runs, players develop or fall off. It's amazing what can happen and both how long and how short a football season is. This is not what I would do, but what I think will happen. So here we go. My first real shot at a mock now that the first 18 teams orders' are locked in. 1. Chicago Bears - QB Caleb Williams, USC Look, Justin Fields shows flashes of absolute brilliance. He really does, but his pocket awareness and ability to scan down field is well below average and he simply is not a very productive NFL passer at this point. TOTAL VALUE ADDED 2024 NFL DRAFT

I listed 200 players on my overall player rating board and put them up on a list and used the Spielberger draft chart to assign a point value to every slot. Based on my chart mixed with his value chart I came up with a points value chart for every single team in the NFL for the 2024 draft. We'll look back at this every year after 3 seasons to see how bad I was.
